New Poetry by Emily Rose

Advancing in my Recovery

Full of pain and lack of mobility

Looking for more stability

Surgery was the final answer

Now identifying as an advancer

Sweat drips down my face

Trying to keep up this pace

Sore and tired, I try to rest

Out here doing my best

Bone replaced with a metal bar

Now I look at my new scar

Most of the pain has gone away

Walking the stairs everyday

Working hard to recover

New experiences to discover

Used to be filled with depression

Writing is great for expression

Can’t do anything halfway

Positive attitude is here to stay

New friends keep me motivated

Real family isn’t always related

Feels like I’m somewhere I belong

Starting to become strong

Felt all alone at one time

Now surrounded by a paradigm

Thanks for reading! I’d love to hear what you think in the comments.

Heartfelt and honest. I particularly like the phrase, “real family isn’t always related.” It speaks deep and quiet…
