The poetry written by Emily Rose, in this blog post, is in the style of Limericks! There are 3 limericks to read on this post, and I would love to hear in the comments section what you thought of them. And, let me know, which was your favorite?
Limericks have a structure of 5 lines total with a rhyme scheme of AABBA. This means that lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme with each other and then lines 3 & 4 rhyme with each other.

Additionally, the syllable pattern is lines 1, 2, and 5 have 8-9 syllables while lines 3 & 5 have 5-6 syllables.
Plus, limericks are normally humorous, surprising, or kind of whimsical.

Man Going Dumpster Diving by Emily Rose
When he was digging through the trash
Embarrassed by the thought of backlash
Couldn’t try to help him
Someone said something grim
Don’t listen to that balderdash
Playing in the Mud by Emily Rose
Splish-Splash, hop in a puddle of mud
Filthy fun, clothing covered in crud
No time to sit and relax
Muddy boots leave foul tracks
Outside in the wet dirt from a flood

Jokes About Mom by Emily Rose
For real, don’t go off like a bomb
Never had a date to the prom
Your momma is so fat
As dumb as a dingbat
Just joking around about your mom
Thank you for reading! Let me know what you think in the comments.
